History
St Michael and All Angels Netball Club (SMAA) is based in the western suburbs of Adelaide. Our current membership is around 300 junior and senior players making us one the largest player participated club in the western suburbs. The club is associated with SAUCNA (South Australian United Church Netball Association).
St Michael & All Angels has been around for many years but we began formally in 1994 when the club commenced with 4 teams (approx. 40 girls). The players played on the courts near the Henley Sharks Football Club. The club began to grow rapidly in the late 1990’s seeing a move in 2000 to Cudmore Terrace, Henley Beach. The move was made in agreement with the local council and Henley High School with all parties contributing funding to the shed and set up of the local facility.
Our club has continued to grow significantly over the years and continues to be a popular club with players from other clubs registering with us in an effort to attain the skills and “sportsmanship” qualities that St Michael’s has become known for. In 2013 the club relocated to the courts located at Nazareth College, Flinders Park. 2017 saw the club move to its current home base at Marleston Sports Centre, 2 Retallack Ave, Marleston SA 5033. In February 2023 we relocated to our current home at 3 Military Road West Beach. When we include our parents of players, coaches and umpires, our weekly presence at games can be up to 800 people across the suburbs and we are supported by local business and the local community. So our club is truly a community club!
The success of our club is also demonstrated by the continuing number of our girls that have been selected in representative teams at both a state and international level.
