Winter Season 2023 INFORMATION
Welcome to Winter 2023 with special mention to those new to our club.
Netball is a team sport and as such each player is expected to attend and be punctual for all trainings and games. Accepting a position at our club implies commitment to the team. No team operates well or improves if players are unreliable. If there is a reason why a player may have difficulty with this during the season the club needs to know now. Please, out of respect for our coaches who are volunteering their time, inform the registrar prior to trials if this is the case. Reasons may include transport issues, other heavy commitments, an extended holiday during the season, non-availability for the finals series or illness or injury.
If new to our club please inform us if you are transferring from another SAUCNA club and if you have ever played for their state or national teams as permission may be required from the association for a transfer. An email to admin@smaanetballclub.com.au is fine.

5. GAME DATES
The season structure is generally as follows:
The season generally begins early April and concludes in August. Each season consists of 15 minor rounds, and 3 rounds in the final series. Each season generally has three BYES, for Easter, June Long Weekend and the middle weekend of July school holidays. Please note that this is the general format, but SAUCNA may vary from this. As soon as game dates are know they will be put on SMAA calendar.
Please note that SMAA do not know the time or location of each teams games, until SAUCNA release the program.
SAUCNA generally doesn't release the program until a week or two before round one begins.
All teams are sent copies of the program as soon as they are released. Unfortunately when trials are conducted and teams are placed SMAA do not know what time or location the games will be held.
6. WINTER CARNIVAL
Each year SAUCNA hosts a winter carnival for the junior teams, held during the July school holidays.
Attendance at this carnival is optional.
Further information about the carnival can be found here.
7. PRESENTATION EVENING
Each season culminates with the presentation evening. For Junior players this night is held on Grand final night, for senior players it is the following week. The club pays for all players, coaches and life members to attend this event. Further information is emailed out closer to the event, and posted on facebook also. Please note that everyone who wishes to attend MUST book a ticket.
8. miscellaneous events
In the interest of player development SMAA may hold various training clinics for players throughout the season. Also during the season SMAA may hold various fundraising and club day events. Details of these events will be emailed out, posted on facebook, teamapp and the website.
9. CANA
SMAA Participates in the Combined Australian Netball Association Championships, and enters Representative teams in conjunction with Marleston Netball. Details of this competition is emailed to all relevant players, and advertised on facebook, in June each year, for Championships in October.
